In Aqua Succulent #1, Cristina presents a rendering of a hypnotizing succulent, inspired by the symmetrical, soothing patterns of the plant. By employing a close-up perspective, she creates abstraction and explores the shapes and colors of the subject. In this piece, we see great depths, created by the foreshortening. This also reveals a dramatic contrast between the bright lavender and aqua colored leaves and the darker blue and dark magenta shadows. We can also see the graceful undulation of each leaf with the subtle changes in colors on the leaves. This piece highlights the inherent, but often overlooked, depth of complex beauty in nature.
